Important Recall Alert: Peaches, Nectarines, and Plums Linked to Listeria Outbreak
**Public Health Warning**
Consumers are urged to discard and do not consume whole peaches, nectarines, and plums sold by HMC Farms due to a potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This recall is in effect nationwide and includes fruit sold between May 1 and November 15, 2022, and the same date range in 2023.
**Affected Products**
The recalled fruit is sold in bags branded:
* HMC Farms
* Signature Farms
with a "6359" sticker.
It is also sold as individual fruit with a sticker that has “USA-E-U” and a number.
**Specific Product Codes**
* Yellow peach: 4044 or 4038
* White peach: 4401
* Yellow nectarine: 4036 or 4378
* White nectarine: 3035
* Red plum: 4042
* Black plum: 4040
**Health Risks**
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause a serious infection called listeriosis. Symptoms of listeriosis can include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiffness, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In pregnant women, listeriosis can also cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or serious illness in newborns.
**What Consumers Should Do**
Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled fruit should discard it immediately and do not consume it. They should also clean their refrigerators, containers, and surfaces that may have touched the recalled fruit.
**Reporting Illnesses**
Consumers who have experienced any symptoms of listeriosis after consuming the recalled fruit should contact their healthcare provider.
